In response to a presumed expiration, The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (in collaboration with other departments) recently issued updated guidance clarifying and effectively extending various deadlines for filings, notices, elections and other requirements for employer-sponsored health and retirement benefit plans. Separately, the upcoming COVID-19 stimulus bill, passed by the House of Representatives on February 27th, contains a handful of provisions impacting plan sponsors, including generous temporary COBRA subsidies.
